Tazio Nuvolari’s death on August 11, 1953 touched the men of Mille Miglia (the Thousand Miles race), who together had contrived and created the “the most beautiful race in the world”. To honour the memory of the Mantuan race car driver, the traditional route of the Mille Miglia was modified to cross through Mantua. Since then, the Nuvolari Grand Prix was born, to determine the fastest driver, competing along the long straights of the Padana plain, starting from Cremona, passing through Mantua and crossing the finish line in Brescia. Even today, Mantua hosts an international event for historic cars. The 27th edition of the Nuvolari Grand Prix will be one of the main social events of the East Lombardy project: the Thursday night dinner in Piazza Erbe. More than 300 guests will celebrate in the name of territorial food and wine in the public squares and buildings in the historic centre. The event’s menus will be announced as a Special Edition – East Lombardy in favour of a wide and in-depth presentation of the territory’s typical products.
