Gran Caffè Liberty

Descrizione

PHILOSOPHY
In the square where the fountain with the statue of Hercules stands, under the 16th century, the Caffè del Popolo opened in the early 20th on the premises of the former Civic Historical Archives and Prefecture.
The Art Nouveau decorations with boiserie panelling and mirrors, brass and glass are still in excellent condition. The premise was renamed Gran Caffè Savoia in the 1930s by Giovanni Picinelli and Caffè Centrale in the post-war years.
In 1996, Luigi Di Girolamo and his wife Greta Gualeni, after carefully restoring the establishment, re-launched it under what is now their current name: Gran Caffè Liberty. The Cafè was subsequently extended to include a restaurant, with tables in the square during the summer months and others under the portico among the arches of the municipal building. The restaurant also hosts major music events and attracts clients for all over the province, thanks too to the excellent food prepared under the supervision of Greta.

Greta Gualeni selects the products, experiemnts with the combinations and supervises the kitchen staff.

WINE
The cellar at the Gran Caffè Liberty is famous for its selection of fine Italian labels but also has great value for money proposals, with plenty of French vintages to extend the range of red wines, white wines and still or spumante rosè wines. Luigi Di Girolamo is in charge of the restaurant staff and is responsible for selecting the wines and spirits.
