Breakfast Project: speaking with Chicco Cerea

Among the twenty-five restaurants taking part in East Lombardy’s “Breakfast Project” initiative, there are also Da Vittorio and the Vicook Bistrot at Orio al Serio international airport, both run by the Cerea siblings. “Having a good and healthy breakfast means starting the day on the right foot – Enrico “Chicco” Cerea tells us - In addition, East Lombardy’s "Breakfast Project" was born to let both regular customers and tourists know about our excellence.”

Breakfast is, how do you say, the most important meal of the day?

“If not the most important, it is definitely the essential starting point. Breakfast is the meal that allows you to get energy and start the day with the necessary charge.”

Is the ideal "East Lombardy" breakfast sweet or savoury?

“In our traditions sweet and savoury are mixed. On Sunday, peasant families and workers of the previous generation began their day with chicken broth and chicken with stale bread to give a different spirit to the party. So, as far as I'm concerned, I say, "Live the sweet and savoury in our breakfast".”

What do you offer for your “East Lombardy” breakfast?

“The Vicook Bistrot at Orio al Serio has an "open" offer just for the peculiarity of the times: we open at 10 o'clock when maybe many people have already had breakfast. In addition to sweets we offer our range of savoury proposals, sandwiches and hot rolls as well as club sandwiches. In winter we have soups and smoothies.”
What is your ideal breakfast?

“A long American coffee accompanied by toast, local malga butter with marmalade or a good jam. However, I can only allow myself to do it during the holidays because with the work I do I am obliged to taste all day, so I try to limit myself a little where I can.”

What is the "East Lombardy" initiative giving to the territory?
