Cremona celebrates Monteverdi
With art, music, food and wine

On the 450th year since the birth of Claudio Monteverdi, international musician and composer, Cremona and its territory put him in the spotlight with a superb cultural and musical event.

Concerts, exhibitions, conventions and musical courses.

Until July 23, the exhibition “Monteverdi e Caravaggio, sonar stromenti e figurar la musica”, will be on at the Violin Museum in Cremona. It will reconstruct the Orfeo Orchestra using original instruments from Monteverdi’s time, selected following the indications recorded in the earliest printed editions of the work, performed for the first time exactly 410 years ago.
During the Monteverdi Celebrations, until May 14, the “Spring Orchestras” will alternate, eight concerts by youth orchestras from all over the world. There will also be the “Bottesini” international bass competition (April 18-24) and from July 7-September 17 the third edition of the Aqueduct Festival will flow through Cremona and Salò just like water, with 10 musical events that will stream music and culture from the lake to the river.
The Ponchielli Theatre in Cremona will transform into a musical and gastronomic stage on May 15 for “A Dinner with the Master”, a tribute to Claudio Monteverdi with “Aperitifs with the Master”, three East Lombardy dates (May 21, 6pm, Palazzo Cavalcabò | May 27, 7pm, Ponchielli Theatre | June 1, 8pm, Palazzo Affaitati) to enjoy the local East Lombardy products pre-concert.
From April 25- May 27 in the magnificent Giovanni Arvedi Auditorium, the third edition of CremonaJazz will again this year, offer an incredibly high level program featuring prestigious names in the music industry. To complete the concert schedule, you will be able to enjoy the "AperiJazz" events that will be held at the Violin Museum restaurant, "Chiave di Bacco", from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm concurrent with the dates of the concerts.
